Madurodam, Amsterdam

The highlight of our trip to Amsterdam was without a doubt Madurodam. Not just because everything was small and wonderful but the attention to details and the movement and flow of the whole mini Amsterdam was just incredible. Madurodam features miniature replicas of their attractions, countless canals, airports and their buildings.

But first thing first, a picture of Amsterdam's countless canal. You will see one every street due to the formation of Amsterdam. It's really cool but after a while, I guessed all canals looked the same.

En-routed to I Amsterdam logo before our long walk to the train station. We wanted to try the famous Amsterdam's pancakes that everyone was talking about and so we stopped at the market and just went for it.

Original and chocolate poffertjes. These small little Dutch pancakes are a little different. They are thicker than normal pancakes and very sweet. Something unusual but definitely a must try in Amsterdam!

Aww, so pretty! Praying hard that I will have an Amsterdam end of April/early May so I can experience the tulips season.

And just a street from the train station, we spotted FEBO! Tabao and had it on the train #likeaboss

Anyway, this whole Febo concept is really cool. It's a "vending machine" of sort. So you put your money in and choose which item you would like to have. The "door" of the box will open itself and you will just take your food and close the door. Simple as that! Oh and no change will be given so do give the exact amount, unless you want to tip them. There will be a coin machine at the side of the entrance.

The little boxes that the food are contained in.

Us fooling around in the store while waiting for them to fry our fries. Oh, Amsterdam's fries! Another must try!!

Finally at the train station..

Bought train tickets to Den Haag. It cost 0.50 euro more if you purchase through the ticketing counter.

Look at my demeaning friends. They wanna make sure I'm 160cm as claimed. Looked at Joel's facial expression. I swore I wanna box him.

Jump and Jump and Jump.

And something to represent our little red dot in Amsterdam. Not every airlines are featured so it's kinda a honourable moment to see our national carrier there.

Decided to call it a day when the sun was about to set. The whole Madurodam is set in an open area with no shelter, hence it's very cold since Amsterdam was still in their winter season when we were there.

Looked what greeted us when we exited the train station! Amsterdam's winter light festival. We searched for these during our first night and to no avail but we were lucky enough to see a small part of them when we were on our way home! This is an annual festival that is hosted every winter to brighten up the cold and dark winter season. It is gorgeous, isn't it?

Yup, and that marked the end of my Amsterdam trip!

So glad to be doing this trip with Tracce & Joel. Both of them brought me around despite being here for umpteen times. Awesome Tracce with her awesome map reading skills and navigations. Thank you Joel for carrying all our heavy dry stores.

Can't wait for more trips with friends! xoxo
