Hong Kong day #01 & #02

Hello everyone!

I'm back from my holiday trip with Tracce, my colleague-turned-friend! This short trip was super impromptu! You know how hard it is to really have a friend friend in this industry since we are flying with different people on every flight. And so it was really cool when we were rostered to do Zurich, Moscow-Houston, Melbourne and this month, we are doing Amsterdam together! So after Moscow, we decided that we want to have a holiday together (since our AALV starts on the same day! What a coincidence right!). So yep, booked our tickets and here we go!

Once we reached Hong Kong, we went to buy our SIM card so that we can have data. The shop is called 1010 and is at the arrival hall, at the end of Counter F (where SQ counter is). You can get the unlimited data for 7 days at HKD$78-$100 depending on the model of your phone. We got one and on the hotspot to share so it will really be useful if there's a whole bunch of you!

Then we took the Airport Express to Hong Kong! Went straight to the hotel to check in. We live in Tsim Sha Tsui. Our hotel is just beside the MTR exit so it's pretty convenient. But if I were to go Hong Kong again, I would prefer to stay in Central as everyday we need to get to Central to go somewhere else. So it's a wiser choice?

And we dashed out for our food & shopping hunt! Below are the places we dined in ( name & location included but there are other branches, so do google!). Here we go...

Tsui Wah Restaurant
G/F & Cockloft, 2 Carnarvon Road, Tsim Sha Tsui

Hai Tian Tang
( It's a few store down from Tsui Wah)

Went to Causeway bay to shop and the crowd was madness. Managed to stock up on our winter clothing in Jardine Street and from the big 4 level F21 store. And then, it's food again.

This place need no further introduction. It's the famous king of mango - Hui Liu Shan. Try their XO carrot cake. It's damn good as well! & their bird nest in coconut.

Hui Lau Shan
(you will see it everywhere in Hong Kong, really!)

Went back to the hotel to put our stuff and rest our feet before proceeding to the Avenue of Stars and Symphony of Lights at 8pm. Oh, Tracce was craving for curry fishball (鱼旦) and she remembered one of the crew brought her to this stall so the hunt for the stall began! & yes, we managed to find it. We kept returning to the stall throughout the trip to buy fishball. It was THAT good.

Wah Kee Snack Food Shop
Hart Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui

Happy us with our curry fishballs! :D

Avenue of Stars.

To be honest, Symphony of Lights was a huge disappointment. The lights were greenish and it was just ugly? I dont really understand the hype but at least I expereicned it and it's something I will never return to see again. By the way, Symphony of Lights will start at 8pm daily and last for about 20 minutes.

Walked around Avenue of Stars and taking pictures before going to Sushi One for dinner! After 10pm, their sushi will be 50% off and it has a minimum spend of HKD$80 per pax. The Q will start forming once it reaches 10pm, so do go earlier! And yes, their sushi was really very fresh. The yummy sashimi, I'm craving for a plate of it while typing this now!!

Sushi One
23 Ashley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui

We stayed in a hostel called Panda's Hostel. It was a very small room but then again, even the Kowloon Hotel which our company put us in is very small. So I guess that's how housing in Hong Kong is. The good thing about this hostel is that it is located at a prime spot and it is very cheap. We paid about $200 each for our 3 nights stay. And it is located in Tsim Sha Tsui. All the big scale shopping malls are there. All the delicious food are just a stone's throw away so yup! Went back and crashed after our dinner.

Woke up early the next day for our dim sum breakfast & shopping!! A selfie to start the day!

This dim sum place needs no further introduction since Singapore also has it. But yes, the char siew bun is really much more delicious in Hong Kong! & we met a sweet Singaporean who stays in Hong Kong. She and her mom talked to us and told us where to shop and some interesting stuff in Hong Kong. Always nice to meet good old fellow Singaporeans in a foreign country!

Tim Ho Wan
Shop 12A, Hong Kon Station (Podium Level 1, IFC Mall), Central

And it's shopping time @ Mongkok! We went to Fa Yuen Street, Argyle Center and New City. Spent all my money and I had to withdraw from their ATM. I need some money management please D:

Ahh.. This packet of spinach noodles is damn awe. Super cool concept. Just order whatever you want and they will combine them and tadah, your own creation is done. It's damn delicious as well. It's at the entrance of Argyle Center, beside the bubble tea. Must. Try!

He She Eat
Shop 4, G/F, Ngai Hing Mansion, 22 Pak Po Street, Mongkok

Went to a HeSheEat for dessert. It's a quaint dessert cafe. Their prices was okay and their dessert was not bad as well. There's waffles, crepes and souffles. It's highly recommended in openrice as well so do drop by if you are in Mongkok area.

And back to our hotel to put our stuff. We brought our mamasan to shop with us and by 5pm, it's all full and our cash were all long gone. Hahaha. And here we are, at the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. One of the many MTR photos we took. Rested our feet and off to Central for our roasted goose!!!

Yue Kee Roasted Goose Restaurant
G/F, 28 Stanley Street, Central

Roasted goose is a must try in Hong Kong and we hunted down this particular restaurant in Central. It's in 2014 Michelin Guidebook and yes, it really is damn delicious. And there's a lot of Singaporeans who patronize this shop. We ordered the shuang ping - roasted goose and char siew. Ohmytian. It's so heavenly! *inserts heart shapes* You really have to try for yourself and do not go too late as some of the dishes will be sold out.

See see see!! Can see the Michelin sticker at the back? & that's us, trying to capture the roasted duck. Haha!! Anw, yep damn nice omg. I must say again. Really damn good, please go and eat okay!!!

& then we headed to Jordon for the Temple Street night market.

Nothing much from the night market. All the imitation goods are there - longchamp, hermes, chanel. You name it, they have it. Decided to head back shortly after. Walked all the way back to our hostel and called it a night!

That's it for our Hong Kong day #01 & #02. Watch this space for our trip to the Big Buddha and more food ventures!

I update more frequently in Instagram so c'mon do follow me ya! (Instagram : wngxmlly). Till the next!!
